Here’s a clean, polished, honest review that captures everything you said — strong but factual, and structured so it reads well on Google or Facebook while still reflecting your frustration: ⸻ ⭐ Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) HALO Medical Clinic – Courtice/Curtis I’ve been visiting HALO Medical Clinic for over a year now, and while there are a few positives, the overall experience has been consistently disappointing. The Good • Convenient location – Very accessible and close for anyone living in Courtice/Curtis. • Same-day appointments – They do offer same-day slots and can address minor urgent-care issues, which is helpful when you need something quickly. • Walk-ins available – At least in theory, you can walk in when needed. ⸻ The Downsides (and they’re serious) ⭐ 1. You can almost never reach them on the phone — this is the biggest issue. This deserves to be the headline problem. It is nearly impossible to get through to reception. They never pick up, and voicemails are almost never returned. If you need to urgently ask which doctor is available for walk-ins, urgent care, or follow-ups, you’re out of luck because they have no online schedule and the only option is to call — yet nobody answers. For a medical clinic, this is unacceptable. ⭐ 2. Long, unpredictable wait times — even with appointments. Their online appointment system serves almost no purpose. You book a time, but you will not be seen anywhere near your actual slot. Not even within a 20-minute buffer. They made me wait 90 minutes with my new born. The doctor has to walk out for every little thing ti the reception, why cant the reception handle the paperwork. I pity the many times they have to go around. ⭐ 3. They call you back unnecessarily — far too often. This seems to be a pattern at this clinic: You come in once → then they call you again → and again → and again. Even for something as simple as a basic blood test, they make you come at least 3 separate times. They never proactively check your lab results, and you must repeatedly call (which no one answers) to force them to review your file. Only then do they respond. You also never receive your test results easily — even basic bloodwork requires asking multiple times. ⭐ 4. Prescription refills feel monetized. Almost every little thing has a fee attached: • Need a doctor’s note? → Pay. • Need a simple prescription renewal? → Pay. • Need prenatal vitamins renewed? They only give 15 or 30 days, even though they could easily prescribe 60–90 days in one go. It genuinely feels like they want you to return repeatedly, even when there is no medical necessity to do so. ⭐ 5. Weak diagnostic depth. The doctors are not proactive. The diagnostics often feel minimal or surface-level. I have been dealing with one health issue for nearly a year, and despite repeated visits, I still haven’t received a proper referral for an MRI. It took almost six months just to discuss a referral, and still nothing has happened. This clinic is fine for basic, small issues — but for anything that requires deeper investigation, follow-up, or urgency, this place struggles badly. ⸻ Final Thoughts HALO is convenient and accessible, which is why people keep going — but the overall system management, lack of communication, difficulty reaching the clinic, constant follow-up demands, extremely short prescriptions, and poor diagnostic proactiveness make the experience very frustrating. If you need a place for quick, same-day minor issues, it works. But if you need a reliable family doctor who communicates, follows up, and provides timely care — this clinic has a long way to go.
I fractured my foot on a Thursday and went in that same day and saw my family doctor. He sent me for an xray (which i did immediatly after) and I HAD TO CALL at the end of the day Friday to basically beg for my results incase it was broken and i needed to get a cast, because I had heard nothing. He told me it was indeed Fractured, then said he was sending in a referral to the Fracture Clinic and that I would hear back. Shocker, I didn't. So i called Tuesday to Halo and they said they had the wrong number and gave me the new one. I ASSUMED now that they had the right number that they would send my referral to the correct number. WRONG! After 3 more days of waiting, I called the fracture clinic and they said they did not receive anything from Halo about my FRACTURED FOOT! Then when i called about why they didnt send the referral (Had to leave a voicemail), they said "We sent it 10 minutes ago" when they called me back after i left a message. This was YESTERDAY one total week since i fell down the stairs. Very disappointed. If the Halo would like to reach out, please do you have my number. I would like to know why after giving ME (A PATIENT) the correct phone number, you just assumed I would take care of everything when i need a REFERRAL TO BE SEEN, which was not given to me!
Was seen by my family doctor during urgent care hours and the team went above and beyond!! Took me right in after leaving to fix paperwork and made sure I left with everything I needed in a very stressful time! Thank you so much for going out of the way to care for your patients!! Lucky to be a patient here!
Yesterday I rushed to the office after sustaining a bad eye injury that was affecting my vision and was greeted by someone who should not be in health care. I asked if my family do tor was i. And was told no, I asked if I could see anyone because of what happened and was told that all the doctors have patients, she got up, walked towards the doctors, turned and said “Oh your family doctor is Dr….? You can only come back tomorrow, we don’t help walk-ins today” I said “But I need a doctor today” I got a shrug. Mind you, this office makes you sign a document that if you go to any other walk-in, they will drop you as a patient. They also tell you there are no other associated practices but theirs and if you have an emergency to call them and they will always find a way to help or be seen… I love my family doctor there and highly recommend her, but the office to try and see her or any doctor there during a crisis was very disappointing…
For the life of me can’t figure out how they get away with advertising on the corner sign as a walk in. This is not a walk in. Multiple times I’ve tried to walk in and was denied.
I think after Dr Nookala left, this place plummeted. Never had an issue with her, but yet I can't refill my prescription without a doctor's note. Go in to get a doctor's note... she won't fill it unless I bring in my old prescription. I've been on my medication for YEARS and you won't prescribe something as simple as a migraine medication as it's been on my medical records for years and you're staring at it?! Last time I go.
I have been happy with Halo Clinic for a few years now, but since my doctor left it is just not the same. I was given another doctor who did not stay with the practice long which if he had I would not have returned never met a ruder doctor terrible experience. I was notified he was leaving the practice and I was given another doctor first visit I felt like she cared and I was happy to see her unfortunately that did not carry through to the second visit. After waiting 45 mins to be seen from my appt time I felt like i was just going through an assembly line. I had other questions to ask but seeing she did not even have a computer in the room to review my history I can tell the patient care did not exist any longer. I'm very disappointed it what this clinic has become. I have been to Halo Clinic as my primary healthcare provider a few times. Dr Obmigie is always so professional and takes care of my healthcare issue during the visit. It has been great being able to get a same day visit from the website which I have used a few times. Thank you for being a great office!
