I was very disappointed with my first experience at this location. I had purchased fern tarts and bakewell tarts for guests that were coming to my home, the bottom and sides of the pastry were completely stuck to the tart tin and the top of the top slid right off. I also purchased frozen meat pies, while the flavour was good there was a bay leaf still in the filling - thankfully my son knew not to eat it! Please be careful because someone could choke on the bay leaf.
First let me say this store is very small, but well stocked with a variety if importanted goods from the UK. Prices I didn't check. Store is clean and well maintained. Lady serving me was excellent. In fact that's why I gave it two stars. Bought two Scottish pies $5.75 each. Let me tell you we've tasted many Scottish pies over the years from many different places. But this pie wins the prize of being the worst I have ever had. Scanty amount of filing, slightly dry without any taste at all. I don't think it even had a sprinkle of salt in it. I also as they were running a special on frozen pies took a steak one to try. Not sure I'll bother heating it up. The only explanation I can come up with is the chef was having an off day when these were made. It happens. If not they seriously need to improve.
Recently I bought a ground beef and onion pie, among other items. It was the worst pie I've ever tasted. There was hardly any meat and no gravy whatsoever. The pastry was dry and inedible. I'm afraid to eat the other items so I'm throwing out all the tems that aren't pre packaged. Would not recommend this bakery to anyone. Save your money!
Went to the Courtice location for the first time today. The ladies were so friendly and helpful. I bought some meat pies for dinner (lots of flavours) and a curry chicken pastry that was delicious!! Also empire cookies and of course some chocolates. I shall be back. :)
Everything was over priced. I got a sausage roll and it was insanely dry and had almost no flavor, the flavor it did haven't was off putting. I took one bite and threw it out. Also the woman behind the counter was very rude to me and my mom when we came in. Also the place looks dirty, would not recommend.
We ordered the white chocolate, cranberry scones. Fresh, sweet and delicious. The millionaires were heavenly. If you want a real chicken curry pot pie, you won’t find a hotter curry nearby. Everything was delicious.
Great local British shop. I've always loved British chocolate, tarts and pastries and have never had a bad product from here. The raspberry tart with cream and jam inside is one of the best things I've ever eaten. I saw one review complaining about the prices but it's a small business and nicer things cost more money (not to mention that the packaged goods are imported from overseas).
